Hi all!
I'm going to be traveling quite a lot in the coming months, and I want to stock up on his reads before I do! My personal current obsession is books where wits and clever plans get the main character out of tricky situations. Audible also has a 2-for-1 sale going on right now, so books with great audiobook versions would be especially appreciated!
Some books/series I've enjoyed recently in that vibe:
- Mother of Learning
- The Immortal Great Souls series
- The Cradle Series (yeah I've been on a little bit of a progression fantasy kick!)
- The Gentlemen Bastards series
- The Dresden Files (up until Peace Talks which I found immensely disappointing.)
- The Martian
- The Mysterious Island (Jules Verne)
Beyond that, here are some other books that don't really fit in any of these categories that I enjoyed for various reasons:
- World War Z (it's well written, well thought out,v and the various small stories really do get you in unexpected ways)
- The Hercule Poirot series (I guess technically this could have gone in the first list but it's just not the same!!)
- The Mistborn series (I also like the Stormlight Archives, but Mistborn feels way tighter, and the end of the third book is sheer magnificent brilliance)
- The Hunt For Red October (I tried to get into Patriot Games but found the writing a lot more hamfisted for some reason)
Thanks in advance for the help! I look forward to your suggestions!
