I’ve played the *Thief* games and loved the grey, bleak atmosphere and low-fantasy setting in it. I’ve been looking for books that could match the vibe of that game. So far, I’ve only found books where there’s always some sort of power struggle between “thieves’ guilds” or where they act more like magical assassins or it’s like a whole gang pulling a heist. I just need something that focuses more on thievery, sneaking, stealing, with more thief gear and less thief magic. Some political intrigue is welcome, but the focus should be on our sneaky solo protagonist.

You might appreciate some of the Robert Howard *Conan* stories, before Ahhnold turned him fully barbarian. *The Tower of the Elephant* or *Rogues in the House*?
