Sorry the title is a mouthful. I love the juxtaposition of worlds created in my mind based on a book with worlds crafted into tv or film based on the same book. Sometimes I like to watch the adaptation first and sometimes I like to read the book first, it depends on several factors. Do you guys have a favorite based on this idea?

Holes by Louis Sachar! The book is a *bit* better than the movie, but the movie is the best book to movie adaptation I’ve seen.

    2. I enjoyed both books and TV/Film of the following:

Lessons in Chemistry, Harry Potter, LoTR/Hobbit, Silo, Foundation, Martian,

    3. Silence of the Lambs (by Thomas Harris)

The book and movie are both excellent. The movie stayed very true to the book and even used a lot of the dialog word-for-word.

      Age of Innocence

      Brokeback Mountain

The kiss of the spider woman

      The garden of the Finzi-Continis

      Death in Venice

The Leonardo DiCaprio/Claire Danes *Romeo + Juliet*. Despite the ‘modern’ setting the dialogue was mostly lifted from the play.

    6. Carl Sagan’s **Contact**. The movie was relatively faithful to the book. The endings differed and the movie played up the romance angle more.

I saw the movie then read the book. Because movies always have to leave things out, I prefer reading the book second.

      Jurassic Park

Each better than the other in specific ways. Both fantastic.

    8. **A Series of Unfortunate Events**! The books were my childhood favorite ♡ The Netflix tv series of it was pretty well done and it’s a fun binge every once in a while.

It also has an older movie where they compressed 3 books in one. It wasn’t *bad*. I liked it initially when I haven’t read the books but it’s a little lacking after reading the source material.

The Martian. One of the few examples were both the book and the movie is really great
