Hello everyone! Please suggest me a book about an outsider (or a couple/family of outsiders) in a close-knit, secretive and hostile rural community. There may or may not be scapegoating and witchcraft involved. Thanks in advance!
100% try out “We Have Always Lived in the Castle” by Shirley Jackson is a small family within a rather hostile/judgy community and are treated as outsiders (even though they’ve lived there their whole lives).
It’s horror but not that scary at all, so don’t go into it expecting that
