This has to one of the darkest, most beautifully horrifying books I’ve read in a while. A book that gives me a certain inexpressible feeling that will last a long time. The horrors of war can never be understated. The truth behind it is absolutely painful and incomprehensible. We as men have to fight for the words and desires of men not whiling to do so themselves. Sending men to the meat grinder for political gain and power. War really is terrible. And in todays world this book is just as if not more fitting then ever. I sincerely wish the world could be at peace and the western world would come together and be better. If the regular people could join hands and put a stop to our leaders and politicians who control us and constantly send young men to die.

On another note any book recommendations about ww1/ww2 or Vietnam war that are worth reading can be similar to this book. Non fiction or fiction. Wouldn’t mind either.

    1. Try Slaughter House 5 by Kurt Vonnegut. The style is very, very different but the impact is similar.

    2. Storm of steel is a very similar book, with the difference that it is a real soldier’s account. It’s excellent.
