books with ‘tidbits’ in them

I read the Ruby Redfort series by Lauren Child a while ago and I really liked when the author had tidbits on the real life world of code at the back of the book. I also recently finished the George series by Lucy and Stephen Hawking and I loved the science pages in them. So I'm looking for more books with extra research pages like that – could be on anything really – historical, science, detective. basically a book with non fiction elements – where the authors show their real life inspiration as well.
