First of all I heard Frank Herbert wrote Dune Messiah after being disappointed that people viewed Paul as a Hero of the story, so to those people he made second book. Knowing that I expected how in the second book we'll see horrors of Paul's actions, the downfall of freemen and how wrong they were to put trust in Paul, but what I've got was completely different. Sure many people in universe died, but freemen were completely in the right to trust Paul, they were at the winning side and their planet thrived.

So what exactly Frank Herbert wanted to show, how exactly Paul was at the wrong at the first book?

Another moment is when I was reading chapter where Paul describes how many billions of people he killed and how many planets he destroyed I lost all my empathy and care towards him and all the people surrounding him, starting with this moment I wanted him, Alia, Chani, Stilgar to die without leaving any good legacy, and for some reason was completely on princess Irulan's side, no matter which side,I wanted her to win at the end. But seems like even after this chapter the book expected readers still to care about Paul and his feelings. I was really upset when at the end of the book Paul basically won, sure he died and Chani too,but he conquered the universe, killed all of his enemies, his empire will continue to live, his children survived as well as others close to him, even his image wasn't tainted. Does the book really expect me to feel bad after all the horrible things he and Chani did?

I was so disappointed from the ending that I lost all my interest to the series, so I wanted to ask if anyone else felt the same and if it worth it to read other books

P.s sorry for my limited vocabulary. I used words I know to try describe my feelings
