I'm a guy in my 20s who wants to get into reading again. I read about 2 or 3 non-fictional during my teenage years but couldn't keep up. I realized I would only read them when I had literally nothing else to do.

Having said that, I'm looking for new hobbies and want to try reading again. But this time I want to try FICTIONAL books.

I spend a lot of time on my phone and laptop. So ideally I'm looking for books that will keep me hooked.

I think Stephen King books are great for people who want to get into reading. I’d recommend pet sematary, salems lot, or the shining to start. My first Stephen King was 11/22/63 which I think is a phenomenal book, but it’s hefty and maybe not a good choice for just getting back into reading.

The Martian by Andy Weir! I’ve had multiple friends who hadn’t read a book in a decade plow through The Martian and love it. Project Hail Mary is good too.

    3. If cats disappeared from the world by genki kawamura! very short book, very emotional but also entertaining and funny at times. my fav book ever!!

My go to book rec for people who want to get into reading is Holes by Louis Sachar, because it appeals to all ages, has really short chapters, and is super engaging!

HitchHikers guide to the galaxy is one of my most fav comedy science fiction book. It gives a new perspective to life and is a best recommendation as a first book!

Hmm it depends on what you’re looking for. I’d recommend the black prism by Brent weeks. Funny and engaging all the way through, and it’s a relatively long series. Good twists and turns in the story as well.

Imaro by Charles sanders is cool too, fantasy book set in Africa instead of the traditional tall castles and elven maidens.

Art of the adept by Micheal g manning is an awesome series too, lots of interesting lore and I really enjoy the magic system and the shit talking grandpa is absolutely hilarious.
