The beartown trilogy by fredrik backman (moreso the second and third books)!!
It’s a looot like cobra kai but with hockey. There’s small town politics, older generations mentoring/pressuring younger generations. Tons of outside pressure is put on teenage/YA hockey players by various members of the community. There’s a town rivalry with the neighboring town. Complicated family dynamics.
There’s really similar themes in terms of generational conflicts, natural talent vs practice, “culture is what we allow,” masculinity, etc
