Recently I read I’ll Be Gone In The Dark (Michelle McNamara) We Keep The Dead Close (Becky Cooper) and Slenderman (Kathleen Hale) and liked all of them. The setting was well-handled but I found the aftermath particularly interesting. How the murders impacted the town (Dark), the institution (Close) and family (Slenderman).
I was looking for recommendations for other true crime books that have this focus on community and urban legend – what killers mean to an area and the emotional aftermath rather than gory details. Was wondering if people who knew the genre better could suggest any.
