I was thinking about this recently and it's weird. I was born in the 80s, I remember all the goings-on in the news about the conflict in the Balkans when Clinton was President, and there was even a chapter in one of those "language" books you have in grade school that are built from chapters plucked from other books that was about the Balkans war, specifically the siege of Sarajevo (to this day I vividly remember reading it while sitting in the backseat of my parents' minivan while sitting in a supermarket parking lot, one particularly striking passage involved the narrator conveying the death of his friend from a shrapnel wound), but I've never read a comprehensive history of the whole thing. Can anyone recommend a relatively accessible read on the 90s Balkans war? Maybe starting with the breakup of Yugoslavia and going from there?

Thanks in advance, this sub hasn't yet steered me wrong.
