I'm searching for a book where the protagonist is highly skilled and adept at surviving alone in the wilderness. Unlike Into the Wild, which I found quite depressing due to the protagonist's lack of preparation, or The Stranger in the Woods, where the subject was not truly self-reliant, I'm looking for something more positive and adventurous.
Ideally, the story should focus on the protagonist's successful and satisfying life in the forest, showcasing their skills and resourcefulness. Any recommendations?
