Hi! My father has been disabled my whole life, and I recently started dating a girl who also has a disability. They both have severe chronic pain.
I always listen to what they have to say about their experience so I learn how best to support them individually. But I know sometimes it’s hard for them to articulate what they’re feeling, so I guess I’m looking for books/memoirs (specifically on chronic pain) that explore that topic.
Thank you!

I’d recommend Disability Visibility and Disability Intimacy edited by Alice Wong. Both are collections of personal essays written by disabled people and cover a wide range of the disabled experience.
Out of my mind by Sharon M. Draper. It’s about a girl with cerebral palsy. It’s for a younger audience but I believe anyone could enjoy it and learn from it 🙂
