I like fiction that is strange, surreal, dark, mysterious, and genre-defying (i.e., not straight-up horror, mystery, or speculative fiction, but more grey-area.)
Recent books that I’ve enjoyed: Drive Your Plow Over the Bones of the Dead by Olga Tokarczuk, You Dreamed of Empires by Alvaro Enrigue, Strega by Johanne Lykke Holm, Piranesi by Susanna Clarke, This Is How You Lose the Time War by Amal El-Mohtar and Max Gladstone.
Any recommendations along these lines?
