I'm currently on a kick reading stories that take after old myths, like Herakles/Hercules, Samson and Cuchulain
Does anyone know any books that follow the same vein, where the problems that can be solved with Brute Strength are solved immediately and in grandiose fashion by the main character, but the main conflict obstacles can't be fixed with brawn, and thus are fixed else-wise.
A good example that comes to mind is Herakles skinning the Nemean Lion, as the beast's hide is impenetrable and could only be killed via strangulation, he plucks out the claws out from it's paws to skin it with.
The only books I have that fits this description is David Gemmel's Legend and Knight of the Seven Kingdoms by George R.R Martin, and the Herakles graphic novel
