I am so far reading free books from Google Play mostly. I read Rise of the Dragons and liked it and might buy the series, then I read Species: intervention which I didn't enjoy much of it because it was slow and basic sometimes, really dark and stressful to go through some settings on it. Now I am reading Beyond the Veil and liking the colorful characters but it is just something new to me.
I have been trying to pick up reading for the last couple of years but the only books that seem to hook me are crime, fantasy and vampires so far (not action vampire though), aliens are nice too. So that would be Sci-Fi. But the read I enjoy most is a poetic language, Anne Rice picked to describe the singular experience for each of her vampire versions and it was really immersive and I enjoyed that as a teen and inspired me to write poetry which I am trying to pick up too.
