Vagabond (the manga) is by far the most enjoyable fiction I have ever read. It's not because it's a manga; I have tried reading several other mangas, but I generally prefer books. So, I was wondering if anyone could recommend any good books that are similar to Vagabond, perhaps a samurai book? Here’s a list of elements that made Vagabond so appealing to me:

    • Its focus on the main character's growth, evolving from a ruthless killer to a wiser human being.
    • Spirituality, with a strong emphasis on nature, the divine, and individual paths as human beings. (There are many Buddhist/Taoist concepts in the story, which I really like.)
    • The struggles the main character overcomes, such as battles against strong enemies, surviving harsh elements (drought, hunger, shelter), and internal conflicts.

I prefer straightforward language. For example, Lonesome Dove is an excellent example of this. The Count of Monte Cristo was a bit too "advanced" for me, although I still enjoyed the plot a lot.

I recognize this post might be a bit messy, but if anyone has any suggestions for books I might like, please let me know! Thanks in advance!
