I have a very specific request and we hoping someone could help me 🙂
I don't mind where, when and what genre the book is written in as long as it's smart/well-written. I would also like it to have a more tragic ending or at least not something super positive. The darker/heavier the overall book is the better (seriously, I love dark books). I would also love the book to have no romance but instead for it to be focused on male friendship.
I would love it if the book had, specifically, friends to enemies (or something like that) male friendship/ bromance. Honestly any type of book that had a story of a turbulent, dark "I hate him but I will kill/ die for him" friendship/bromance would be perfect.
It would be great if they protected each other even when they shouldn't and they are trying to kill each other since they’re on different sides but can't bring themselves to do it.
Either way I am pretty open with recommendations and would love your help!

It doesn’t have the “enemies to bros” trope but for the rest of what you’re looking for: Of Mice and Men by John Steinbeck may in fact destroy you if you haven’t already read it.
