Ex of 5 years ended things with me and basically I would like to read more into the emotions I'm experiencing and understand them more, to help me heal and process them. I've become more curious as to why I'm feeling these emotions on a deeper level and the correlation to the thoughts that accompany them. I'm currently reading Letting Go by David Hawkins (which may have sparked this curiosity) and even though I like the techniques, knowledge surrounds emotions/thoughts and methods to work with them, I feel like there may also be a bit of psuedoscience mixed in with it, but I'm no expert.

I hope this sort of request is allowed, if not I can delete it. Thank you

I would suggest you consider looking into books on grief and loss, as a breakup involves many layers of grief. also, am I correct that you are looking for a science based understanding rather than books like Brene Brown…? I don’t know of anything specific, but you could also look into understanding the science of circumstantial depression or even codependency, though they may not be exactly right.

O the relationship side of things, John Gottman has written many books on marriage and dating and uses a science based approach, but I don’t know if any of his books get into the science of separating.

Best wishes to you as you move forward.
