What books would you recommend?

Recommendations based on these being some of my favorites:

The Prince of Tides

Pride and Prejudice

The Nightingale
Notes from the Underground

I’m not big into fantasy and I don’t want the book to have the artificial modern feel either. I like mystery, romance, thrillers, history. Not big on fantasy.
