Im looking for book suggestions to send to my 16 yo son. He is dead set on enlisting into the Army asap and, on his own accord, is now away at Military school. He is allowed to have 2 books at a time. My first instinct was to look for books that may help him with his mindset and dicipline, as well as a book that may help him gain a better vision or understanding of what military life entails, but I cant seem to find anything of that sort that I know to be appropriate. He is an avid reader and has bookshelves full of action/mystery YA books at home, so it's also been difficult to find a book or series he hasnt read yet.

So my question to you is, what book do you wish you read when you were 16?

Any help with any book suggestions to send that he would enjoy or benefit from is much appreciated!

The Things They Carried by Tim O’Brien is a heavy hitter about the Vietnam war. Maybe too much for a 16 year old boy, but then he does want to enlist, so maybe not?

    2. I’d probably pick something fun after Can’t Hurt Me, like Ender’s Game, Red Rising, or The Will of Many, YA novel in a Machiavellian school setting.

Some books that I would strongly recommend are the millionaire next door, and Deep Survival by Gonzalez

How Big Things get done by Bent Flyvbjerg,
Possibly make your bed by admiral mcraven

The things they carried is an excellent novel about the Vietnam war
