I haven't read any romance books before, but my favorite romance movies are Your Name and Suzume. What I like about them is that they're about the couple having to go on an adventure and solve a problem together. And that's what I'm hoping to find: an action/adventure setup that lets mmc and fmc get to know each other, grow together, change together, and be together after solving some problem.
Also, I just realized this is basically The Mummy with Brandon Fraiser.

Do you have any interest in sci-fi? If so I recommend Komarr by Lois McMaster Bujold. Many of her books have this general theme, but on reading your post it struck me that Komarr is perhaps the best example. If you like Komarr, there is a direct sequel, A Civil Campaign, you’ll also want to read. ACC is my favorite book ever.
