And it’s triggered some sort of profound depression. I have been crying relentlessly for three days. Feeling pure grief for my loosing my mother, various friendships, the feeling of being alone and helpless etc a lot of self criticism… it’s been hell tbh.

I think a good book would help. Something with a protagonist in their 30s. I’m thinking of books like the green dot, my year of rest and relaxation, tomorrow&tomorrow, yellow face etc.. something contemporary and relatable- if you have any suggestions I would really appreciate it. Anything to get me through this- thank you 🙏

So sorry to hear about you being sick! Agree with Maame! Also, I just finished Hope This Finds You Well – the protagonist is 33 and it definitely has low moments, but overall it is an upswing book, plus it has a lot of humor. I really loved it.

I am really digging **The Twyford Code** by Janice Hallett. It’s a cozy mystery with a cool, found footage structure. The book is mostly transcribed audio files from the iPhone of a missing person. The missing person is an older man who decides to investigate the 40-year-old disappearance of his favorite teacher. Hes always felt a bit responsible because she vanished during a field trip inspired by a book he had given his teacher. The teacher had become convinced the book had a secret code in it and the field trip was taken to investigate the author.
