I discovered a new (to me, anyway, they've been out a few years now) line called "Splatter Westerns" published by Death's Head Press. I was very familiar with splatterpunk as a genre and loved it, so finding out these existed was exciting and I got the first one to try it out.

The Magpie Coffin is a hardcore revenge tale that reads like a movie you'd catch on The Last Drive In with Joe Bob Briggs. Grimdark popcorn horror that moves with a lightning pace and with plenty of blood and action. The prose itself is serviceable, getting you where you need to go with plenty of "pulpy" lines but never trying to punch above its weight with haughtiness, even if it does stretch into cliche at some parts (the hero, Salem Covington, dragging a coffin around at some points, though unlike Django you know what's in it pretty early on) but it still manages to be clever and inventive with how the hero dispatches the devils of the west he's hunting.

Anyone else read this one or any of the others? I'm eager to just start buying them all from Amazon since the ebooks are fairly cheap. I love the hard leaning into pulp literature that seems to be coming back pretty strongly in the past few years.
