I need a period murder mystery (preferably set in the early-ish 1900’s) that was recently published
I feel like the only good period murder mysteries are either Agatha Christie's or Arthur Conan Doyle's, and I really want to read something outside of those two.
I really like the gereon Rath murder mystery series. It’s by a German author, 5 of the books have been translated into English so far. The first is called Babylon Berlin. It’s about a WW1 veteran turned detective in Germany in the 1920s and 1930s. Noir and dark!
P.s. the series on Netflix goes off the books entirely but is still a good watch!

Not exactly what you want, but Phillip Kerr has a series about a detective in Nazi Germany.

The Maisie Dobbs series by Jacqueline Winspear is really good!
