Hello, my fiancé and I will be married soon and going to Greece for our honeymoon one month from now.
I’m looking for a book I can start reading soon to get excited about Greece, and/or can take with me on the trip.
I love ancient history, art history and architecture, and politics to a lesser extent. I remember picking up Will Durant’s “The Story of Greece” the summer after graduating high school, but ending up getting busy and never finishing. I don’t want to restart this book though as I’d prefer something less dense and shorter that I could possibly finish before or while on our honeymoon (I’m a slow reader).
Any sort of non-fiction on Ancient Greece, whether general or more focused on a specific topic or time period would be interesting to me. Alternatively, I also love historical fiction. For example, I loved Barbara Kingsolver’s “La Lacuna,” which is a fictional story with Diego Rivera and Frida Kahlo as characters in the book.
Thank you!
