Books about new scientific discoveries and inventions

I want to read a book that covers cool and mind-bending new technology and discoveries. I am interested in brain-human interfaces, genetics, neuroscience experiments where they grow brains in petri dishes and teach them to do things, and other new and off-putting science findings. It would be cool to go into other science topics that I am unaware of too. I am a beginner with these subjects. I would also be interested in books about the philosophy and ethical questions that arise with these types of modern technologies. Thanks
