I've been trying to get into romance books as a adult after not reading for many years, or mostly reading other genres. I've been loving some kdramas and would love books with similar vibes. Something light, fun, and sort of close to real life. Could even include a work element.
- ML and FL in their 30s or older, ideally not their first relationship (i.e. no virgins)
- they have friendships that are present in the book and goals outside of the relationship
- could even include the perspective of other couples or characters
- relatively good communication
- can be slow burn, but not required
- slice of life, not necessarily super dramatic
- contemporary preferred, but not required
- relatively strong female character
Examples of kdramas I've enjoyed recently that I'd love books versions of:
– crash landing on you
– hometown cha cha cha
– mad for each other
– her private life
– because this is my first life (bit more virginal than I'd prefer, but the cast is great)
– be melodramatic
Books/series I've read, but aren't really related to what I'm booking for due to lack of focus on fluffy romance:
– Silo (like the MC)
– Legends and Lattes (like that it's pretty slice of life)
– A few Friedrik Backman books (slice of life, ensemble cast)
– Normal People (really identified with this in my early 20s, but looking for something more sweet and less angsty/unstable)
– The Calculating Stars (like the healthy, established relationship)
– Pride and Prejudice (fits the bill, but would prefer some time actually together and a little less angst)
