I've only recently found out about this particular genre and want to read more of it!
Currently, I have these books on my reading list are Rebecca by Daphne du Maurier and Carmilla by Sheridan Le Fanu.
Whether it's classics, modern, popular or underrated, I'd appreciate any recommendations!

Carmilla is a good one! I’d recommend Frankenstein by Mary Shelley and What Moves the Dead by T. Kingfisher.
Definitely Dracula
And maybe The Fall of the House of Usher by Poe
Du Maurier’s other works are definitely worth checking out, I liked “Jamaica Inn” a lot more than “Rebecca” and some of her short stories are really strange.
The Historian by Elizabeth Kostova is fantastic.
