I'm very late to the party, but I recently saw "Battle Royale" from 2000, and while the concept was…interesting, I despised the movie; the bulletsponging, the characters that scream their dialogue all the time, the supposed law that exist to scare the teenager yet they don't know about it, and my biggest peeve…the two external characters that's added to the class (I suppose to "speed things up"), one of them never ran out of ammo it seemed.
Another big draw back were all the characters we got next to no insight on.
So the question is, if I despised the movie, would I like the book?
I'm not squeamish, its probably even more violent, but is it, for lack of a better word, realistic?
The characters should be more fleshed out at the very least?
