Excellent fiction books from the 80s & 90s

As someone born in 1985, who remember bits of the pre-internet era, but not enough, I have recently gained an interest in media from the 80s and 90s. The internet and phones became widespread in 1995, so anything pre 1995 would be excellent. I do prefer crime fiction, but I will read most things except romance.

I have recently read 'Red Dragon' (Thomas Harris – 1981) and 'Litltle Drummer Girl' (John Le Carre – 1983).
