My 70 yo MIL is originally from Ukraine but lived abroad the last 30 years. We're about move to another country, and she is staying with us while we are packing up. Every night she sits on the sofa scrolling on her phone and I would love to get her a couple of books in the hope that she might substitute them (note the word hope, having suffered from depression myself I know the likelihood of her reading them is low!).
There is a bookshop in the city near us that has a Russian and Ukrainian section. I just don't know what to get her! I don't know a huge amount about what she does and doesn't like but was thinking perhaps something that is an easy read, kinda happy, not too scary? Maybe some classics? Or maybe just a selection of different things lol
