A lot of the books I’ve been reading lately have primarily used “Character Name, pronoun, etc. said” after the dialog line. I find it tiresome and repetitive when there’s adjectives out there that aren’t over the top descriptive if they want to leave it up to the reader to fully decipher what the emotion is (which I personally would rather just be told lol paint a picture for me!). As a writer myself, the prevailing belief in the online communities is that “said” is more correct and preferred (if not even a sign of better writing or storytelling), but to me I just see it as lazy writing. Does anybody else feel the same way?
