Hello,
I love horror books where you're uncomfortable when reading it, and sometimes become straight up nauseous at some scenes. However, I strongly dislike books who use graphic scenes as "shock horror" as an excuse to not actually have an interesting plot, because I find this cheap and boring.
What I'm really looking for is a horror book where the author managed to masterfully associate disgusting gore with a truly interesting plot, so as to keep me on edge during the entire read. Bonus points if the book has body horror or psychological horror, as I'm particularly fond of these.
