I thought of this question because of a previous conversation I had with someone about Jane Eyre. I love Jane Eyre, and so did the person I was talking with. We were totally vibing until she started talking about her crush on Rochester.
It turned out she viewed the story as a romance, whereas I see it as Gothic fic. I definitely DON'T idolize the romance between Jane & Rochester or Rochester himself.
Has anyone else had an experience like this?
