Detective/thriller series with possible a bit of humor?
I know that’s pretty broad. I like when you learn about a bit from the situation as well. Anyhoo, I’d appreciate your thoughts! Thanks you kind strangers.
The kind worth killing has a sequel and definitely hits some of those notes!

A Good Girl’s Guide to Murder is great and I think anything by Agatha Christie is a plus

Gun, with occassional music by Jonathan Lethem. The narrator has a dry sarcastic sense of humor and the creatures he encounters – babyheads, talking animals – are so weird they made me laugh.

The Puppet Show by M. W. Craven and the whole Washington Poe series. The main duo is quite funny together while investigating serious crimes.

The DCI Logan series by J D Kirk. I listened to it, the audio was good.

If you like paranormal stuff, the Harry Dresden books by Jim Butcher absolutely fit this bill. He’s a wizard-for-hire in modern day Chicago. The books are funny, dark, gripping, just all around an amazing series and I think he’s up to like, 13 of them? I looooooove the Dresden files!

Ross Thomas wrote fantastic caper novels.
Witch-for-hire on
Rivers of London series by Ben Aaronovitch
– detectives investigating paranormal crimes + dry British humour
*“But . . .”* Dominic floundered around for a bit before pointing at me accusingly. *“You said that there’s weird shit, but it normally turns out to have a rational explanation.”*
*“It does,”* said Beverley. *“The explanation is a wizard did it.”*
