Does anyone have book recommendation with detailed descriptions of landscapes that invoke moods like in the The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings. The Shire might invoke serenity and nostalgia, Mirkwood invokes feelings of mystery and claustrophobia. I haven't quite read other books that are able to invoke that sensibility using natural landscapes as The Hobbit and LOTR. Does anyone else come close? There is a difference between being wordy, over descriptive, unnecessarily ornate, and actually invoking a feeling or mood, using natural settings. There is a feeling of Beorn's House, the Old Forest, or Weathertop, and there's a feeling of riding down the Anduin.
