So, my favourite book is ‘The song of Achilles’ and my favourite parts about it are its historical nature and poetic writing. However when I read ‘call me by your name’ I assumed it would be a hit due to its similarities in writing style and plot but it was just too weird for me. Too many sexual things i did not need to picture xx. I need a recommendation for a poetic romance that is some what historical as modern day romance books seem to be all sex and not actual romance… thanks a lot!!

I haven’t read Song of Achilles, but would recommend Helen of Troy by Margaret George. It’s been a few years since I read it, but I remember enjoying the prose a lot and there’s definitely romance, but it’s all very G-rated.
circe by the same author, not exactly a romance but i think you’ll enjoy it if you liked the writing
