Hello! I'm looking for descriptive body horror literature in the same vein as Nick Cutter. I especially loved the parts in "The Troop," which read like a scientific report, and I love how anatomical he is when describing what's going on.
For the scientific thrillers, I considered books like The Andromeda Strain by Michael Crichton. It was written in 1969 but still holds up. The depth he goes into to describe the systems is incredible.

I'm looking for escapism not a poorly veiled political manifesto blended with lazy body horror just for shock value in the hopes of selling more than one copy. Theres a difference in subtle subtext masterfully conveying some social issue and hamfisting your own biases into the story with your own self insert mary sue.
