My bf is a philosophy major and with his birthday coming up I'm looking for books to buy him. I don't mean like actual books about philosophy like Kant or Hegel…etc (he's read most of them) but fiction books that have very strong morality issues or make you think about right vs wrong, meaning of life…
Spanish and English recs appreciated ! 🙂

A book with an insane amount of morality issues and trigger warnings galore: All the Ugly and Wonderful Things by Bryn Greenwood
It’s a beautiful book but it’s disgusting, disturbing and leaves you questioning a lot of things.
I loved it.
Zorba the Greek (a.k.a. The Saint’s Life of Alexis Zorba) is one he will not regret reading
Earthlings by Sayaka Murata
The Humans by Matt Haig
Pachinko by Min Jin Lee
Our Missing Hearts by Celeste Ng (Think of Handmaids Tale meets 1984)
To Be Taught If Fortunate by Becky Chambers could also fit the bill.
Irvin Yalom has written novels that combine psychology and pyschiatry. His most famous book is When Nietzsche Wept.
If he has not read it yet, Atlas Shrugged.
Frankenstein by Mary Shelley. Horror/ sci-fi but absolutely has moral quandries and complex characters.
The Brothers Karamazov
Crime and Punishment
Anna Karenina
Three Body Problem
The Alchemist
1984
Slaughterhouse Five
Blindsight
Anethem by Neil Stephenson.
