I love their sharply observational, melancholic but cutting work. However, as a woc, I'd love to explore more relatable authors and was wondering if anyone has read POC authors/cultural critics who have similar writing styles. Even lesser-known non American authors (like Elena Ferrante) would be a good starting point for me.

    1. The Idiot and Either/Or by Elif Batuman gave me Sylvia Plath-vibes. Both the author and main character are Turkish American.

Hanif Abdurraqib is an amazing essayist and music critic. I just finished They Can’t Kill Us Until They Kill Us, which I would highly recommend.
