Fictional apocalypse/post apocalypse books which have details

Looking for books that portray the apocalypse/post apocalypse settings in detail. I’m a big fan of Project Zomboid, Last of Us, Fallout games. They really go in depth on describing how the apocalypse hits and how years later things are.

I’m interested more in how the apocalypse sets place and slowly progresses over the days, months and years.

I’m looking for books which goes in details about these small fictional stuff. How minor details shape the future of the apocalypse etc. Could be zombies, disease, etc. As long as humanity is wiped
