I read my first Murakami novel and I don’t know what to feel about it. I have seen a lot of people hold Murakami as one of the greatest writers. I do agree that he is a great narrator, with impeccable writing skills but the story line was just not it for me.
I felt like the narrator was just having s*x with every woman figure that came across in his life and it made it a little weird for me. On top of that, I also felt the women in the book were very objectified and viewed as objects of desire only.
I loved his descriptions on scenery, but i found the plot lacking a bit.
I would love to know what everyone else feels about Murakami and whether there are any other books of his that are really good?

I love Murakami, but this one was pretty meh in my opinion. I think my favorites are 1Q84 The Wind Up Bird Chronicles, and Kafka on the Shore. But pretty much anything except Norwegian Wood and his last novel, Killing Commendatore which I gave up on midway.
