I am looking for books, where female main character, preferably about 40 y old, finds the strength to start life all over again, after some losses. There are so many novels about starting over, but most of them are quite shallow and just an easy read to pass the time.
I am looking for something, where it is quite clear the author actually knows what they are talking about, when it comes with making peace with what has happened in past, how it has affected the character and how she is dealing with it, finding herself and making a new life for her. Loss can be about health (recommended), relationship, etc.
Strongly prefer female main character, as there are some specific themes women in 40s deal with, when it comes to health, aging, fertility or even dating again.
I have read a few some years ago, sadly dont remember the titles. Valérie Perrin "Fresh water for the flowers" had these themes in it. It definitely doesnt have to be similar style. just the one I remembered and really enjoyed.
Thank you 🙂

Not a novel, but this made me think of [The Women I Think About At Night](https://www.miakankimaki.com/books) by Mia Kankimäki, it’s something between a travelogue, a collection of essays and a personal narrative (not shallow, not self help): “What can a forty-something childless woman do? Bored with her life and feeling stuck, Mia Kankimäki leaves her job, sells her apartment, and decides to travel the world, following the paths of women explorers and artists from history who have long inspired her.”
