So I'm looking for a romance story (preferably classic Russian) that is not in any way a happy story with a good ending. (I think "white nights" by dostoevsky or "the kreutzer sonata" and "the devil" by tolstoy are good examples of what I'm looking for)

I mean, have you read Anna Karenina? If you’re looking for a love story that doesn’t end well, I’m not sure you can do much better than AK!
