Vibe matches: Death Note, Dexter, Catch Me if You Can
The protagonist is a highly intelligent criminal, hiding their double life from the rest of the word. At first they commit their crimes inconspicuously until someone (person or group) takes notice and starts investigating. The protagonist can be a master manipulator, extremely crafty and capable of misleading their opponent, leading them both into a literal or figurative chase. I'd prefer it focus on the criminal's perspective to give the feeling of avoiding detection or outsmarting the other characters. I'm ok with Paranormal/sci-fi/magic as a plot device such as in Death Note, but best if realistic as possible. I'd like most of the characters strengths to come from their mental and strategic capabilities.
Bonus points if the "investigator" is equally as intelligent, occasionally outsmarting the protagonist. The two may even gain a small bit of respect for each other in their rivalry.
