What is your favourite portal fantasy book? (With some words on why)
I don't think I have ever tried this subgenre so I want to give it a shot. From my brief search my main choice so far is "The war of the flowers" by Tad Williams.

It has a huge and detailed world with multiple storylines, and is currently in the running for the longest English fantasy series written at over 12 million words. Overall tone for the first several books is cheery slice of life that keeps getting interrupted by tragedy.
