Interesting gentler non fiction, science or history or nature

Hi friends! After reading some harrowing ficton I want to take refuge in interesting non fiction.

My favorite book of all time is Braiding sweet grass, so science and nature related would be great. History would be great too, but preferably not war, presidents and empire kinda history.

I’m not looking for – memoir, biography, Current politics

Ideally something gentler and interesting vs harrowing/ tragic
