Do people really like dark books and I don’t mean grimdark books I mean dark dark books. The books an talking about are books that contain too much mature content. I mean books containing too much rape scenes especially if the MC is involved in either way, torture, death of every family member etc. I am not squimish but I don’t want the MC winning the war and losing all the battles. Books where throughout nothing good happens to the MC.

I read them a lot. Mostly nonfiction stuff.
I enjoy them from a historical perspective.
Most historical accounts are told from the victors’ perspective. You only really get the truth the other way round.
