I am reading this book now and I have to ask. Does the chapters about Maurice's past impact the story in any way?
It kills me to read about the past. It's so boring and I really just want the main story. I went into this book thinking it was going to be similar to Jennifer Donnelly Lost in a Book where it immediately jumped into the story. But the background details, not just details but whole detail chapters, every other chapter is really dragging and I feel a reading slump will hit if I do read those chapters.
